During the event, the elobau apprentices had the opportunity to experience the professional sportsman up close and to exchange ideas with him for one day. Julian Wagner came to Leutkirch for this occasion, just a few days after he had finished vice-champion at the German Championships in Kassel. The day started in the morning with a technical part. In the apprentice workshop, the professional athlete – who successfully completed an apprenticeship as a mechatronics technician after graduating from high school – worked on an intermediate examination task with the second-year apprentices. Four technical faults were to be found in one system, which was achieved through teamwork.
This technical part was followed by a Q&A session moderated by Peter Aulmann, Chairman of the elobau Foundation. Julian Wagner provided insights into his life as a professional athlete, answered many questions and talked about the double burden during his training, which he successfully completed parallel to the time-consuming training routine. He also gave tips on how to deal with stress and exam situations.
At the end, a joint running training session took place in the stadium in Leutkirch. Julian Wagner demonstrated how to warm up properly and showed where the right running technique is important. Despite the summer heat, the attendees took part with a lot of perseverance and motivation. In a 20-meter sprint, the fastest runners were finally chosen. The exciting exchange with the professional athlete and his personable, authentic manner made the day an unforgettable experience for the elobau apprentices.
