The theme week is sustainability this week – and that’s the reason we were invited to talk with Regio TV. As the founder of the elobau Foundation, Michael Hetzer was interviewed along with Sustainability Manager Patrick Löw. What is the importance and function of a sustainability manager and how does sustainability affect products and cooperation with customers? These and other questions are addressed in the report by Regio TV and elobau.
The special thing about this interview: It was not just about the specific measures we have taken to become sustainable in the areas of economy, ecology and social issues. The questions revolved around the importance of sustainability in relation to our company, to our products or also to our cooperation with customers.
Why is sustainability important to elobau?
Michael Hetzer answers this question by explaining what prompted him to give the company a vision that is not linked to products, employees and customers, but has an impact on all processes.
What does a sustainability manager do?
We have our own sustainability manager who, together with his team, only deals with this topic. Why elobau decided to create the position of a sustainability manager and what the benefits are for the whole company are also answered in the interview.
How do products become sustainable?
Managing Director Dr Thilo Ittner talks about how sustainability enters into product development. And also about how sustainability influences pricing. Dr Thilo Ittner also explains how he perceives that the aspect of environmental compatibility is gaining importance.
Bio-based plastic or apple leather as a substitute for real or artificial leather have already found their way into elobau. These products are already being successfully used in the 225MA midi armrest and prove their worth every day. Read more in this application report.
What does circular economy mean in an industrial company?
Managing Director Rüdiger Köhler answers this question, among others, in the television programme. In order to keep environmental impacts low, elobau makes sure that it only extracts as many resources as can be returned elsewhere. Rüdiger Köhler reports on how this plan succeeds alongside reforestation and a solar park.
