Sustainable products
In 2009 we set ourselves the goal of producing our products with the smallest possible ecological footprint. To achieve this, we had to first examine the entire supply chain of the required raw materials and semi-finished products. To overcome the challenges this presented us with, a project team was established. Together, with external specialists, they established which areas of product manufacturing had a negative impact on our CO2 balance and established a benchmark system that indicated improvement potentials, and our progress on achieving our objectives.
Next level lean production approach
Most people think of sustainability in terms of conserving resources and minimising the impact on the environment. Our objective was to improve the efficiency in the development and manufacture of our products to such a level, that we would not only main but improve our competitiveness worldwide, despite our firm commitment to manufacturing in Germany. The key to being successful was to create the necessary flexibility in both the production process and the use of resources. This meant leaner processes, shorter lead times, optimised logistics, conservation of material resources and allowing employees to optimally use their skills. We continue to measure our progress through regular internal audits, and employees are actively encouraged to implement improvements.
