The company specialising in operating elements and sensors was victim of a hacking attack but managed to prevent more serious harm.
Leutkirch, 16.03.2022 – At the beginning of March, the elobau company in Leutkirch in Allgäu was victim of a hacking attack by a professional hacker group known to the police. Individual files were encrypted by an encryption trojan. A criminal complaint was made to the police.
“The security of our customer data had been given the greatest priority. For this reason, our IT is working closely with external experts to rapidly minimise the effects of the attack. We assume that our security measures were able to prevent the worst and only small amounts of data were lost before our emergency measures took effect”, said managing director, Rüdiger Köhler. Our IT environment was shut off from the outside without delay to protect the system and the data. “We are currently working at full speed to completely restore our business operability in a secured environment.” Communications by telephone and e-Mail were meanwhile able to be resumed. The restoration of the IT systems and server structures has made good progress. Customer and employees are kept informed of the current status at regular intervals. The Logistics Department has performed successful system tests so that the next deliveries from warehouse stocks can go out to customers very soon.
“We would like to express our sincere thanks to all employees, partners and customers who are supporting us after this attack, have offered us their assistance and showing their understanding for current delays in the delivery process”, said Köhler. “It is good to know that we stand united in the face of such attacks.”
